Bio

A little bit about myself...

Born in Canada to British and Canadian parents, I moved around quite a bit during my childhood, eventually going back to my roots in England. I pursued my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, followed by my Master’s degree in Neuroscience at the Institute for Psychiatry at King’s College London.

I began working with Terrence Higgins Trust in Central London setting up youth clinics. It was inspiring to be able to support the amazing nurses and doctors who were trying to make a difference in the way young people engage with their health. I was scouted on an afternoon grocery run and began my modelling career with the agency Models1. Over the years, I was fortunate enough to take on many exciting and challenging jobs in the fashion industry – from magazines such as Tattler, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar and Wallpaper to fashion houses including Hermes, Levis and Ted Baker. It was an amazing experience that gave me the opportunity to work across the globe with so many talented individuals. At a very young age, this taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance and, most importantly, standing up for yourself.

At the same time, I started working in a laboratory looking for a cure for Batten Disease, a rare fatal neurological condition affecting children. It was an enriching intellectual experience, but I was most affected by meeting so many brave children and their wonderful families. Today, I still I think back to how gratifying it was to see how my work directly impacted those who needed it most.

I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College London, focusing on advanced neurodegenerative diseases. I have published many peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and spoke at numerous conferences on subjects ranging from trauma-induced dementia to neuropathology.

I also worked at the Cabinet Office in the Open Innovation Team as a policy advisor, collaborating with civil servants and ministers to use science to inform and improve policy making. I was involved with policy development within the DHSC and MoD, employing new technology and scientific findings to help improve access to better healthcare and bolster national security for Britain. It is important to me to use this experience in policy-making to be able to effectively translate ideas into actual change for Britain.

Professionally, over the last 10 years, I pivoted towards developing technological solutions for healthcare needs in liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and cancer. I lead groups of talented individuals to advance our ability to diagnose and treat diseases by implementing cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. I have raised millions in funding for healthcare companies and understand the importance of building and leading effective teams in order to succeed.

When I first joined my local Conservatives, I was immediately welcomed into the community. Since then, I have campaigned tirelessly during multiple national, local and mayoral elections and I am executive branch committee and ward rep for our executive council. I built a dedicated team of volunteers and have spoken to thousands of people across London, delivering countless leaflets, raising funding and fighting for local change. I will bring the same energy, inclusivity and enthusiasm to my next campaign.

I have been a member of several professional organisations, including NeuroCentral research and the European Association for the Study of the Liver. In my free time, I have a passion for ancient Roman history, as well as learning languages – I am fluent in French, German and Italian. I enjoy hiking, and more recently have explored the wilds of Cornwall. When I can, I love travelling and experiencing new and exciting cuisine and exploring local history.
